Usage Manual

This page explains how to use Par ici!, a Paris Metro exit map app. You can check station exits, nearby exits around your destination, elevator and escalator information, and the best train car position for your selected exit.

1. Pass Validity

The validity period starts on the day and time of payment from the Pricing tab at the bottom of the app screen.

A 1-week pass is valid for 7 full days.

2. After Payment

After payment is completed, the map function will be activated.

iPhone users should select Google Maps to view information such as Lines and YOU ARE HERE (YH).

3. Lines

Lines displays station exits and the train car numbers closest to each exit by metro line and direction.

Transfer and station information can be viewed by tapping the logo in the upper left corner of the screen.

Icons on the map can be moved left, right, up, and down.

4. YOU ARE HERE (YH)

YOU ARE HERE (YH) allows you to view exit information for stations near your current location or destination.

Enter a landmark, address, station name, or place name in the search window at the top of the screen.

When searching by Line → Station, the icon YH icon appears in the upper-left corner of Google Maps.

Tap this icon to view transfer information and station details.

5. Line Numbers Shown Next to Exit Names

Numbers in parentheses next to an exit name, such as (M1, M9), indicate metro lines that are easily accessible from that exit.

In general, all exits of a station are connected within the same station. However, exits that are far from a specific line may not be shown for that line because they are inconvenient.

6. Exit Icons

Exit icons represent elevators, escalators, and stairs on Google Maps.

General Information

Train Direction and Car Position

At more than 90% of stations, trains arrive from the left, except at terminal stations and island-platform stations. In many cases, the right-hand side is the first car.

The total number of cars varies depending on the line. Five to six cars are common.

Connections Within Stations

Almost all exits are connected within a single station.

Some exits that require walking through platforms of other lines, or that are quicker or safer to reach above ground, may not be indicated in the app.

Tip for Large Stations

In large stations, it may be more efficient to leave the station through a nearby exit and walk above ground rather than spending time searching underground for a specific exit.

Examples of large or complex stations:

Elevated Stations

In elevated stations, escalators or elevators may go up from the ground-level ticket gates to the platforms. This applies to some sections of Metro Lines 2 and 6.

Elevators and Escalators

In central Paris, elevator and escalator installation is limited. Some newer suburban stations and most stations on Metro Line 14 are better equipped.

Attention

  1. Serious violent incidents inside metro trains or stations are rare, but we recommend avoiding isolated corridors and the ends of platforms with little foot traffic.
In the Paris Metro, stations of any size may have long transfer corridors or confusing layouts. Par ici! also includes transfer passage information and supplementary station details for some stations, which may help when planning your route.
  2. Pickpocketing and snatching can occur. Always watch your belongings, hold bags securely, and be careful near doors, stairs, and ticket gates.
  3. Some exits may have limited opening hours. Some stations or exits may be unavailable during demonstrations, special events, or construction work.
  4. Paris Metro facilities are frequently updated or repaired. The actual situation on the day of travel may differ from the information in the app.
  5. Entire lines may sometimes be closed for maintenance. When traveling to airports or airport bus stops, be sure to check the official traffic information:
